Fitness

Most of us move more in the warmer months. Many of us engage muscles we haven't used since last fall. You know what I mean. If you're just resuming after-supper-walks, you'll feel it in your hamstrings, quad muscles and glutes for the first few days at least. It's important to spend a few minutes stretching before and after you engage in any exercise, especially gardening.

Before you resume or begin outdoor fitness routines this season, evaluate your fitness wardrobe. Proper fitting, "sport" appropriate shoes are very important. Wear wet-dry or breathable fabrics so you're not uncomfortable in wet clothes and so you don't catch a chill. Wear sunscreen and don't forget to protect the back of your neck, the backs of your hands and your lips. Consider wearing a hat to shade your face.
